Casa Lefevre: A dialogue between past and present
Some projects go beyond mere architecture and become immersive experiences. Casa Lefevre is a prime example of this. Collaborating with my client on this project, rich in history and cultural significance, was more than just a design challenge; it was a journey through time.
From the very beginning, I understood that restoration alone would not suffice; a story needed to be told. This story weaves the colonial legacy of the “Casco Antiguo” with the disruption of contemporary elements. Thus, a bold fusion emerged: ancient limestone walls that have withstood centuries now contrast with 21st-century materials. Textures merge the rustic with the sophisticated, evoking the past while remaining grounded in the present.
Materiality has always been my passion. Every choice was an exploration of sensations: the roughness of the original stone juxtaposed with the smoothness of polished concrete, and the warmth of local Nazarene wood contrasting with minimalist metal lines. The result is a space that breathes history while feeling alive, welcoming, and innovative. Designing Casa Lefevre was more than simply restoring a building; it was about giving a new voice to its legacy. Today, those who live here enjoy not only its beauty but also the unique experience of being connected to a piece of history while benefiting from all the comforts of modern living.
